How to Stop users to download a Content from Site:

How to Stop users to download a Content from Site:

Content on a SharePoint site is usually available for downloading so that users can work on it offline. In some cases, Administrators want to prevent users from downloading content as per the requirement. For Example, you have content that contains confidential client information on site, and you don’t want users to be able to download items and take files offline on their laptops or other devices. As a site owner, you can secure data.

Please find the steps below how to stop users to download the content from site.

  1. Go to Site
  2. Click Site Actions->Site Settings

Deprecated Features in SharePoint 2016

Deprecated Features in SharePoint 2016:

The below Article which will Explain the features which are Exist in SharePoint 2013 and deprecated in SharePoint 2016.
SharePoint Foundation:

SharePoint Foundation has been included in all previous versions and stands as the free, slightly cut-down version of SharePoint. All of the core functionality for this is now built directly into the core SharePoint product, so this is now no longer available
Stand-Alone Installation

Due to this change and update, the idea of a "stand-alone" installation is not supported as it has been with other builds. If you want to create a self-contained development or test environment, then simply choose the “Single Server Farm” role during installation. You will, however, should ensure that everything else you need, such as SQL, is already installed and configured.

Forefront Identity Manager Client (FIM)

In previous versions of SharePoint, Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) Client was used to synchronize between Active Directory and SharePoint. The new release of SharePoint does not use it at all. The standard way of importing users now is via Active Directory Import. You can still use third-party products, as well as the new Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 version.

Excel Services in SharePoint

In SharePoint 2016, Excel Services and its associated business intelligence capabilities have been removed. The Excel Services piece has moved into a new Office Web Apps product, Office Online Server, which is now in preview. Not only has functionality been moved, but certain features have been completely deprecated. These items include Excel Services PowerShell commands, Trusted Data Providers, File Locations and Data Connection Libraries. Feature such as Viewing and Editing Excel data in the browser now requires the new Office Online Server.

Tags and Notes

This feature is completely deprecated for SharePoint 2016. You will no longer be able to create new tags or notes, or even access existing ones. Microsoft has, however, documented how you can archive existing notes.

Stsadm.exe

Finally, we are seeing the demise of “stsadm.exe”, in all fairness we should have been using PowerShell instead for everything possible for the past couple of versions. Even though it is deprecated it is still there for those backwards compatibility moments that will of course appear as

SharePoint server 2016 Site collection Upgrade.

SharePoint server 2016 Site collection Upgrade.

SharePoint Server 2016 introduces a new site collection upgrade experience. There are three ways to upgrade a site collection:

  • In conjunction with content databases upgrade
  • On-browse upgrade
  • Manually triggered by using Windows PowerShell
Content databases upgrade:

To upgrade the databases run the Mount-SPContentDatabase cmdlet. After the databases, have been upgraded the site collections are automatically upgraded during database upgrade process by default.
On-browse upgrade:

You do not need to know whether the site collection has pending upgrade, SharePoint decides it for you during the upgrade process. Once the site is browsed, SharePoint checks if the site needs to be upgraded, if so, the site will be put in a queue and a timer job will pick it up for upgrade.

Farm administrators can use Windows PowerShell to upgrade a site collection.
Manually trigger site upgrade:

You can use the Upgrade-SPSite cmdlet to manually upgrade the site collection

NO down time Required to Patch SharePoint Server 2016

NO down time Required to Patch SharePoint Server 2016

Zero downtime patching is a method of patching and upgrade developed in SharePoint Online. It was made to let administrators patch the service at the same time as users kept using their subscriptions. In other words, this tested method is designed to allow patching while people actively work with their files, and search crawls and renders results, on the SharePoint Server farm. That’s what’s meant by ‘zero down time’.

A couple of things to note as we discuss ZDP (we’ll talk about these elements later in the article).

  • Your ZDP experience could be enhanced by using MinRole in SharePoint Server 2016, but MinRole is not a requirement.
  • Your farm must leverage high availability (HA) to reap the benefits of ZDP. A highly available SharePoint Server 2016 farm is a requirement for ZDP.

It’s important to remember that the goal of ZDP is uptime for your users, so, in this article, all the decisions involved in patching and rebooting your farm will be made with that bias in mind.

Please click on the Link from MS which will explain more in details of the procedures and the steps.

How to find the TLS configuration in SharePoint

How\where to find the configuration of TLS in SharePoint

SharePoint 2010 can support Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocol versions 1.1 and 1.2.

However, TLS protocol version 1.1 and 1.2 support is not enabled by default in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products. To enable support, you'll have to install updates and change configuration settings once in each of the following locations:

  1. SharePoint servers in your SharePoint farm
  2. Microsoft SQL Servers in your SharePoint farm
  3. Client computers used to access your SharePoint sites
Please find the below Path where to know whether the TLS is configured or not.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2]

Please find the Link below from MS which will explain more in detailed.
